My Christian Journey

​

My name is Pastor Dave Kim. I began my journey of faith with Jesus Christ in 1990 at a youth prayer meeting in a church in Chicago, where I accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior. That life-changing encounter opened my eyes to my sin, led me to genuine repentance, and transformed the direction of my life.

After completing my theological studies in Chicago in 1995, I returned to my homeland, South Korea. Soon afterward, I spent seven years serving in ministry, focusing primarily on foreign workers and missionary outreach.

​

In 2002, I answered God's call to overseas missions and was commissioned by the Mission Board of the Korean Methodist Church. Together with my wife, Grace, our son, Jake, and our youngest daughter, Jeena, I began serving as missionaries in the Philippines.

​

Through God's faithfulness and the generous support of churches in Korea, four United Methodist churches were established and dedicated in the Philippines. I had the privilege of serving as the pastor of one of them, Biaan United Methodist Church. In 2010, I was ordained as an elder in The United Methodist Church.

In 2012, I was appointed as a United Methodist missionary to serve international students through the Korea Global Students Program (KGSP) and to lead the foreign workers' ministry at Sung-Eui Methodist Church in South Korea.

At the church's request, I also served as a Korean associate pastor, ministering to a congregation of approximately 4,000 members. By God's grace, I faithfully served there for ten years before returning with my family to the United States. 

 

The Lord then opened another door of ministry, giving me the privilege of serving 3-Point Church in Durand, Wisconsin. I am deeply honored that the Wisconsin Annual Conference has appointed me to serve Spooner United Methodist Church and Lakeview United Methodist Church beginning in July 2025.

My commitment is more than fulfilling the responsibilities of ministry. It is to remain faithful to the sacred vows I made before God at my ordination—to preach His Word faithfully, to shepherd His people with love and humility, and to serve Jesus Christ with all my heart for as long as He calls me.
